On Monday, 24th May 2021 I jumped on a video call with Tarzon to record a 20 minute podcast. Well, we may have got carried away and talked for almost an hour, but the recording has been released in its entirety.

The podcast starts with Tarzon reminding me that I’m old (I’ve been working on Internet related technologies for longer than he’s been alive). We then move on to the importance of both depth of knowledge and breadth of knowledge in IT, including T, π, M and broken comb skill-sets. Inline with Tarzon’s skills and experience we talk a bit about entering the IT industry as a graduate or junior developer. We discuss a bit about networking, including what information to publish and how to select the right social media to use when networking. We also talk about the movement from senior developer to leadership roles, something that many people in the IT industry will encounter during their career.
At the end of the podcast I’ll give 3 pointers for recent IT graduates, but you’ll have to listen to the podcast to hear them.
